38 weeks

I had my 38 week check up this afternoon. Everything is looking good. I'm measuring right on schedule, the head is down, normal BP, and one exciting thing- I've lot 2 lbs:) She checked me and I haven't dialated any yet but she said my cervix has thinned out some so that's good. It looks like Charlotte won't be coming early (the doctor didn't say that but that's what I'm assuming from the no dialation) thank goodness.

Everyone is freaking me out- everyone wants her to come early. Granted I would be happy to have her outside the womb and cuddle her and what not and I'm sure I would be a whole heck of a lot more comfortable. BUT I'm not ready yet. I've washed a bunch of her clothes, blankets, towels, and socks and started preparing the hospital bag (kinda). But I'm not ready.

BTW I've only washed a couple loads of her clothes and I've already lost a sock! I can't find it anywhere- either it got folded up in her other laundry and I didn't notice because it's so tiny or the dogs stole it or the dryer ate it. But she hasn't even worn them yet and I've lost one.

We had a really good Christmas but it sure was busy! Wow I don't remember it ever being this crazy busy. I don't think I've slept more than a couple hours at a time since before Christmas. ugh. Jacob and I have been sick this week and that has not been any fun:( This should be crunch time for us but we have been too sick to do anything productive. We were supposed to get our carpets cleaned today but we have been too sick to clean up our Christmas mess, so we had to reschedule. I think I feel worse today than yesterday. The worse part of being sick and pregnant is that I can't take any meds. ugh.

Oh one fun thing that happened to me- a guy gave me a free drink at Lenny's the day after Christmas. I was about to die of thirst so we popped into Lenny's while shopping at the Pottery Barn Outlet. Well I must have looked fat and pitiful because that guy wouldn't let me pay for my drink. I may be large and ugly but hey atleast I can get a free coke:)

Another no so fun thing- my nose is starting to spread. I'm such a cutie:)

I'm hoping for a restful and maybe productive New Year's weekend. We shall see:)

Full Term

So I'm 37 weeks now. Charlotte is offically full term so if she came now it wouldn't be a big deal. Well whenever she is born it will be a HUGE deal but you know what I mean.
I had my appointment today and everything looks good. My blood pressure was fine (122/80) and her heart rate was fine (164). I've gained alot of weight since last week so I'm kinda depressed:( I'm a fatty fatty. I can't even fit in some of my maternity stuff anymore. I can't wear my maternity jeans anymore. I'm not comfortable wearing any of my shoes. The shoes I wore today kinda hurt my feet, but not as much as my other shoes do. So I totally get the whole barefoot and pregnant deal. Jacob says that I'm swelling and holding fluid so that's why I've gained alot of weight but I still think its fat. ok pitty party about my expanding body is over;)

Last week they tested me for the GSB . I asked the doctor about it today and they told me I tested positive for it so that kinda sucks. I'm still not really sure what it is. Apparently some women are carriers of this certain kind of bacteria. Though it doesn't cause me any harm, it could cause a bad infection with the baby. So they have to start me on IV antibiotics when I go into labor for at least 4 hours before she's born. Everyone (the doctor and Jacob) seems to act like its not a big deal. So I won't worry too much about it. It does mean that I'll have to stay atleast 48 hours at the hospital though.

In other news, we are having my mom, her husband, my brother and his girlfriend over tomorrow for Christmas lunch and I haven't even started cleaning our house. ugh. It's FILTY. I'm tired, it's almost 8:30pm and Jacob is still watching the Memphis game so I'm thinking we have a long night ahead of us...

We still have so much that we need to finish before Charlotte gets here. I'm stressing out a lil bit.

ok I'd better start being productive.

Merry Christmas !!

36 weeks 3 days

How far along? 36 weeks and 3 days

Total weight gain/loss: a lot

How big is baby? My baby books says about 6 lbs. that seems heavy

Maternity clothes? yep, and some of them are too tight...

Sleep: hahaha

Best moment this week: We finished our Christmas shopping

Movement: yep and I'm pretty sure she has bruised a rib. ouch

Food cravings: No. But I'm hungry all the time.

Gender: Girl.

Labor Signs: no I don't think so. I've had some cramping and the Doc says it could be the BH contractions.

Belly Button in or out? still an innie but just barely

Stretchmarks? not on my stomach. It looks like I'm getting some on my thighs. weird. I'm so hot right now

How are you feeling? well...Good over all. No swelling or major problems so that's good. But I'm starting to get uncomfortable and my back hurts.

What I am looking forward to: finishing the nursery. We need to pick out a rug and curtains and then finish up a few decoration type stuff

What I miss: sleeping on my stomach

Milestones: less than one month to go!

I had my group b strep test at my 36 week appointment Thursday. That was really the only new thing that happened. They had me waiting around forever for my appointment and I'm usually in and out in about 15-20 mins. This last one took about an hour. They also checked for the baby's position. The doctor said he thought he felt the baby's head so she should be in the right position. He stopped before he made it through the cervix though because I said it hurt. He said my cervix was pushed back pretty far. Whatever that means. All I could think was man it I thought that hurt I'm gonna be in trouble at delivery time. When I go back Thursday (37 weeks) I'll try not to complain so he will be able to tell me more about the baby's position and all that jazz.

The doctor did tell me not to be too disappointed if I go past my due date because most 1st time moms do. Then before I left he said see yay next week unless you go into labor early. mixed signals. haha My dad seems to think I will have Charlotte before the end of the year and Jacob's Granny thinks I'll have her the 1st full moon in January (a few days after my due date). I'm thinking we should start a pool. ha I've added a poll to my blog page so you can vote for when you think she will come.

I really hope I get some energy soon and my nesting instinct kicks into high gear because I have a lot I need to get done around the house before she gets here.

If I don't update before then, Merry Christmas!

A lil craft action

I started feeling a little bit crafty today. The only thing is I can only sit down in the floor working for so long before my ole back starts hurting. But I managed to make a cute Hair Bow Holder and 3 hair clips tonight. I know you're impressed. ha

Caroline painted these lovely letters for Miss Charlotte. I added some ribbon to make them into a stylish bow holder.

Cute clippies I made using THIS site

I'm starting to get a little (a lot) anxious about getting Charlotte's room together. Hopefully this weekend all the painting and flooring will be done and I can start putting all of her things in their places. Then I need to find a rug, some curtains, wall art for over her crib, a lamp, closet dividers, mobile, some baskets to hold diapers, lotions and stuff....She seriously cannot come early. ha

Our house is a mess. All of Charlotte's stuff is in the living room and our bedroom. We aren't going to put up our Christmas tree until we can get all of our mess picked up. I can't believe it's so close to Christmas! I haven't bought the first gift. I haven't even made a list of people I need to buy for and I have absolutely no gift ideas. Jacob isn't worried about Christmas, he says that Charlotte is gift enough for everyone. crazy. I need to figure out our Christmas cards too. We have done photo cards in the past but we haven't taken a good festive pic yet.

I've been in a bad mood most of the day. ugh. So after the doctor's appt me and Jacob napped until he had to go to work at 2:30. The highlight of my day was doing my crafty crafts:) But typing all this stuff that I need to get done is stressing me out again.

new topic;)

I got a text that my mom's step daughter was at Jackson General in labor with her 2nd child. BUT we just heard that she in fact wasn't in labor and they are sending her home. She is 3 cm and 75% effaced so she doesn't have much longer. I think she is 2 weeks from her due date. We are having a baby shower for her Saturday so hopefully so can hold the baby in until then;) I made the cutest diaper cake for her shower. I'm really excited about it. I'll post pics of it this weekend.

My co-workers had a shower for me and Charlotte Wednesday and it was fabulous. I was very surprised and grateful of all the fun things they got us. We got a lot of things that we will really need and things that are just plain cute:)

I have my last shower Sunday in Selmer with my Dad's family. It should be fun times too:)

I can't believe I'm only 6 weeks away. I must really look pregnant now because the other day somebody thought I only had 3 weeks left, a guy offered to give up his seat for me while we were waiting for a table at a restaurant, and it seems like everyone stares at my belly these days.

Maybe nobody is noticing this crazy acne on my face because my belly draws their eyes from my face:)

enough rambling. good day.

33 weeks and 3days

I was SOO looking forward to Thanksgiving. But I go and get sick and then miss Thanksgiving:( sadness. Thursday I had a fever for a while but it went down after a few hours so that was good. Jacob made us a lovely Thanksgiving meal though. He made mashed potatoes, chocolate pie and bought a rotisserie chicken to go along with the corn casserole and onion casserole we had already made to take to his parents' house. It was yummy. I ate it in between the many many naps I took Thursday. I'm so thankful that I got so much rest that day but I really haven't gotten much rest since then. I've had a terrible pain in my upper left stomach/ribs and it goes all the way through to my back. It makes it hard to get to sleep and stay asleep. But maybe I'll get some sleep once the baby's here. ha ha
Our sermon at church was about being a thanker instead of a complainer so I'm trying not to complain too much about all my pains. so you can see how well I'm doing since the first part of this blog is all complainants.

The baby's room is getting really close to being finished! Jacob, Dad and TJ put in laminate hardwood in Charlotte's room this weekend and it looks really good. Right now Jacob and Dad are installing the 3/4 round and then they'll be all finished! woo! Then we can start organizing her room. There are a few little things that I still want to make for her room- mobile, bow holder, and closet dividers. But we'll see.

I miss being crafty. Jacob bought me a Cricut for my birthday and I'm pretty excited about using it. I haven't done anything with it yet because our house is a mess with baby stuff EVERYWHERE, I don't really have a clear place to get all my scrapbooking stuff out. We are working on getting our guest room cleaned out right now too. We are getting rid of some bulky furniture and looking for a computer desk/craft table for the guest room/office. This house is like 1600 sq ft but it feels like it is getting smaller and smaller by the day:)

Ok and now for a survey that I borrowed from a friend's blog (thanks Jen)

How far along? 33 wk, 3 days

Total weight gain/loss:
well that's a personal question! I honestly don't remember what my starting weight was exactly but I'm probably up about 30ish pounds:(

How big is baby? I'm not sure. One website said she should be around 4 pounds.

Maternity clothes? yep, That's all I wear.

Sleep: not much lately. I just want to sleep straight through the night.

Best moment this week:
Jacob cooking our first thanksgiving :)

Movement:
Oh yeah! She's an active lil girl for sure.

Food cravings:
Nothing really specific. I just like to eat alot:)

Gender: Girl. But I'm getting worried that the ultrasound was wrong and we end up with a boy and a million frilly pink dresses! ha

Labor Signs:
none yet

Belly Button in or out?
what belly button? I guess it's still an innie for now

Stretchmarks?
none yet. knock on wood.

How are you feeling? This question could get me into trouble as far as the no complaining goes... But seriously, I'm feeling ok. I'm just tired achy, but no major swelling or anything else too bad.

What I am looking forward to: finishing the nursery and my baby shower Sunday!

What I miss:
sleep and diet coke:)

Weekly Wisdom: I'll get back to you on this one. I'm not feeling very wise at the moment;)

Milestones: getting the hardwood floor down! woot!

This should be a fun packed week. I have a baby shower at work on Wednesday. I'm off work on Thursday and I have a doctors appt. Saturday I'm helping my mom throw her step daughter a baby shower. I'm making a diaper cake for the shower and I'm pretty excited about it. I've never made one before but it looks easy enough. And Sunday I have my last baby shower in Selmer with my Dad's family.

that's all for now!

32 weeks

I went to the doctor today and everything looked good. BP normal. Heart beat was strong. My belly was measuring at about 32 to 33 weeks. No protein in the urine. Now I have to start going every 2 weeks for my check ups. fun fun. Oh and Charlotte kicked the doctor when he started to measure my belly, pretty funny.
The only real "problem" I've been having is some numbness in different spots and some pain and numbness near the top of my ribs. The doctor says it is intrinsic pressure or something. aka she's getting on my nerves- literally. ha Jacob rubbed my side last night and got her to move down so I could get comfortable enough to sleep. such a good husband:)

Today was a busy day. I ran around shopping some before meeting Dad and Donna for lunch. Then after lunch me and Donna went to Coffman's furniture to order a chair for the nursery. I really like the one we picked. The only down side is that I won't get it for 8 weeks. Anyone want to take bets on who gets here first: The chair or Charlotte?

Also I got the crib bedding in the mail today! yay! It is so pretty, I'm not even sure the pictures do it justice. It was a little tricky making up a crib bed but I finally got it.

I'm happy with the way the bedding turned out. It's very girly so I'm glad we did blue and green on the ceiling and walls to kind of tune it down some. The chair I picked is chocolate brown and I think it will look great with the bright colors.
Last night I made a hat for Charlotte. I am not good at crocheting hats at all. I tried crocheting in rounds and I couldn't get it to look right so I made it with regular stitches and gathered it at the top. I'm not thrilled about it but oh well. I had some left over yarn to play with after I made a blanket for her, so I tried to make a hat. It was a fun experiment. Waldo modeled the hat before I put the tassel on top. He was not amused. Jacob has a picture on his phone of Waldo wearing the hat, he looks like an old lady going to church. I'll have to post it later.

Here's a pic of a blanket I made. It is really soft and a pretty decent size so I can use it too:)
I started another blanket a while ago but I'm only about 40 % done with it (if I decide to make it a smallish blanket).
It's a granny square blanket and it takes me longer to do those than just a regular stitch, I guess because its a lot of starting and stopping. The picture make it look almost red but the main color is hot pink. Charlotte may get here before I finish this:)

Another fun thing I made, a framed excerpt from The Velveteen Rabbit

While I'm talking about things I've made. Check out THIS LINK to a mobile that I want to make. Do we think I could do this or have the time? Or perhaps I should just buy a mobile...but where's the fun in that?

In other news, I have a baby shower this Saturday! Yay! I'm so excited to see everyone. I'll have to take lots of pictures. That is if I can figure my camera out. Me and Jacob have this fancy camera we bought on our honeymoon and the settings have done something funny and we can't figure out how to take a good picture with it. I'm thinking of trading it in for a disposable camera. haha jk Jacob's parents bought us a video camera and it takes regular pictures too...maybe I'll bring that. ok sorry for the side bar about the camera. But really, I can't wait for the shower. There are a few people who aren't going to make it that I wanted to see but seriously I'm surprised that more people aren't going to miss it since it is the weekend before thanksgiving. And the weekend before my birthday:) I can't believe I'll be 27 on Tuesday. Man I'm old;) This is my last birthday before the baby comes. This is the last birthday as Mitzi, next birthday it will be Happy birthday mom:) craziness.

Another exciting thing this weekend is that we (The Hamilton crew) are going to the Memphis vs LSU game Sunday. Should be fun.

There's only one thing that worries me about this busy weekend: When am I going to get to see the new Harry Potter movie??? Jacob is working til 10 Friday. So we may go see HP after the shower Saturday if I'm not too tired.

Speaking of tired, I'm going to nap for the rest of my day off till Jacob gets home.

I will be 31 weeks tomorrow but wanted to do a belly pic early since I got my diaper bag in the mail today (kind of a dual purpose pic)

Baby H update 2

I hit send by accident (I have to email my updates when I do it from my phone) and I was still editing my entry but whatever.
This is lame.

I have my first shower this coming weekend. I'm way excited:) I guess I need to start working on a cute outfit.

We have our first child birth class tomorrow. We could either do 2 long Saturdays or 4 short Monday nights. Since we could find any Saturdays that worked with our schedule we are doing Mondays. I not real excited about the class- I'm afraid I'll learn more than I will want to know about the birth process and freak out. Haha oh well we shall see:)

We decided on our baby's name:) it was a secret but since we've told our parents, I'll let the cat outta the bag on here.... Charlotte Elaine Hamilton:)

Hope you guys have a fabulous week.

Baby H update

I really hate my computer! Arruugg
It won't let me update my blog!
So I'll do a quick abbreviated update via iPhone.

Everything went well with my last doctor visit. My iron was a little low so I'm taking a supplement. And I passed my sugar test! Woo

Chicago was lots of fun. I wish we were still on vacay. We had lots of good eats and good quality time.

Our nursery is a pretty green color thanks to Caroline's handy work. We choose 'celery sticks' by glidden for the walls. And we still need to paint the ceiling and shelves and trim. We chose 'almost aqua' for the ceiling and 'pink heather' for the backs of the built in bookshelves. Jacob and dad are putting up crown molding Friday. So the nursery is coming along slowly but surely:)

I ordered my diaper bag tonight from etsy. I'm real excited. It's made with Amy Butler Morning Glory fabric. I dig it. I'll post pics once my computer decides to work.

28 weeks- 3rd Tri

I'm waiting at the doctor's office for them to draw my blood. I'm having my glucose test today. I just finished with the doctor and everything looks good. BP 111/74 Baby's HB is 147. Thankfully my weight slowed down and I only gained 3 pounds in the past 4 weeks.... Last time I had gained 11 pounds in the same amount of time.
My belly is measuring right along with my due date. No swelling. All in all, everything looks great. I'll let you know how this glucose thing goes. The drink was like a super sweet sprite without carbonation. It was kinda gross. But I had to remember my college days and just chug it. Ha

I'm rotating to see all the doctors here because different ones could be on call when I go into labor so they want me to meet them all. Well I had the same doctor this time that I had at my last visit. Last time I really did not like him that much but I liked him a lot this time. Maybe I was just moody last time because he was exceptionally nice this time. Who knows maybe I'm crazy. Ha

I've been obsessed with looking at photographers' websites lately. I love all the newborn pics. We found one photographer that we liked but she sent us the price list and it was a little bit ridiculous. And it seems like none of them like to give you the digital proofs (for a reasonable price)so you can print your own. But I'm sure I will have plenty of pictures of her on my camera that I can print at walgreens. My 3 favorite ones that I've found so far are KristenReed Photography, Only Photography, and Carrie Prewitt Photography. I'm still waiting to get a price list from Only though. Does anyone have any other suggestions of photographers we should check out?

I can't wait for this appointment to be over so we can head to Chi-Town! Woo! 10 more minutes til they draw my blood...
Come on!

Project Nursey

Jacob and I are in nursery planning mode. We are still in the looking phase and haven't committed to even a wall color yet but that is cool. We found some cool ideas at Lowes yesterday for a pink and orange nursery. hmm... We thought about beadboard or a chair rail but not sure how it will look with our bay window.

I found a cool DYI blog, here's a post of her's about her nursery.
This definitely puts me in the craft mood. There's links towards the bottom of her post to her posts on the specific DIY projects. I kinda think I could make Baby H's curtains after reading this. So easy and no sewing! I am also digging the shelves and mobile over the changing table. And I want to make a scrapbook like she made; I like the idea of making up your own fun pages like she did pages where the mom to be and dad to be guess everything about the baby from her eye color to her favorite food to her profession, that would be cool to look back on. Also in the same post she says she got an idea to bring a pretty pillow with her to the hospital since there will be so many pictures taken of her in the hospital bed... maybe if I get a cute pillow it'll take the focus off how bad I will look? Oh who am I kidding, our baby will be so pretty that noone will even notice that me and Jacob exist for the next few years. haha.

Basically, if I hadn't already picked out our bedding, I would completely copy this room. lol Well maybe not, I do love our bedding but I may still take bits and pieces our her nursery and adapt it to ours:) Too bad Hobby Lobby is closed on Sundays. boo.

Yesterday Jacob and I went dresser and glider shopping. But it was kind of a waste of time. Apparently you can't find a simple dresser at Coffman's Furniture for under $1100! nuts. So Jacob looked online last night and we found a couple we liked (this one and this one) at for like 1/3 the price at JCPenny but it's hard to tell if it will match our antique white crib. But maybe after reading this blog, we should look into refinishing an old dresser- like this and this

Wow I just realized that it's 2:00pm and all I've done is sit outside eating "brunch" (aka leftover pizza) and look online at nursery ideas. Maybe I should shower....

Feeling more real everyday...

I have 2 baby showers planned in November so Jacob and I decided that we had better start working on our registries now. So yesterday we were both off work and we went to to Memphis to register at Babies R Us and Target. Lemme tell ya Babies R Us wore me out! Man. It's like baby overload in there. haha. First thing the lady asked us what kind of diapers we were going to register for because she could go ahead and key them in at the registry desk. We were like err I dunno. I wasn't expecting that I would need to know my brand of diapers. Whatever keeps her dry is fine with me. We went ahead and put some Pampers on our list once we got home but then there's the question of diaper sizes. hmm. I'll just trust that the people who buy us diapers will know more about diapers than I do and it'll be alright:)

We still haven't found a convertible car seat (we picked out the infant one, it comes with the travel system) . I've tried to do a lil research this morning on them but all that keeps popping up is stuff about Britax being the best car seat ever, even the 'Cadillac of car seats' but they are over $300! That is a huge price difference compared to the other car seats. I just don't know how much more safety a car seat can provide (compared to the other ones) . Feel free to share what car seat you have:)

We just about have all the big things decided on, we just need to find a glider, a dresser/changer, and a light fixture. I think our plan today is to clean out her room (there is so much junk in there it's nuts) and maybe go look at paint samples again.

I am so tired. I think I'm gonna go back to bed. I stayed up till after 12 and I woke up at 5:30am and tried to go back to sleep until like 7am then I finally got up. I miss sleeping in. But atleast I'll be used to not sleeping when the baby comes:)

I'm a hottie

My skin is broken out like whoa and I'm tubby. I now understand why you should only have a baby when you are married- when you are fat, zitty, tired and cranky, noone will put up with you or call you pretty unless they have some sort of legal obligation. ha
I've gotten another preggo symptom- crazy leg cramps. I woke up Saturday morning screaming because of my leg cramps, I'm pretty sure I scared the crap out of Jacob. He probably thought I was in labor. ha. I've also had alot of back pain. It's weird because because I thought I should be having lower back pain but its all upper back pain. Maybe my boobies are weighing me down. I went bra shopping Friday but I can't find anything supportive that is wire-free.

I'm soo tired today. geez. Jacob gets off work at 8pm so I'm just hoping I'll stay up till he get home.

We had a pretty good weekend. We went to Savannah to see Jacob family. It was fun times. This weekend I'm gonna have to try to be more productive and clean out our baby room. We are trying to pick out a wall color for the room and an overall color scheme. Right now we are wanting to put up bead board and paint a bold color on top. We are leaning toward an orange or purple. maybe.
I feel like I had more to say... guess not. toodles

We may have a Diva on our hands...

Our little girl's closet is growing daily. We bought her quite a few things at the Wee Exchange consignment sale this weekend. I got so many cute little outfits that look new and were only a couple dollars. I got her a few little jogging suits I think those are too cute. I found a white Dior dress trimmed in lace for a few bucks that I nearly bought but it had a stain on it. sadness. But how fun would that have been to have a Dior dress? haha A little Carrie Bradshaw;)

Waldo was NOT excited about me bringing in all those baby clothes. He also doesn't care for the crib much at all- he left us a stinky present right in front of the crib. boo! Well now that we are getting all these clothes in her closet, I think I need to start working on some closet dividers. There are some really cute ones on etsy but I think I could probably make some myself...or maybe my creative sis-in-law could figure it out;) ha
here's a link to a pretty easy closet divider that I could make... http://ashleyannphotography.com/blog/2009/11/21/diy-closet-dividers/
Also I've seen them made from little squares of wood that have bright ribbons attached that you tie to the closet rod.
Here's some of the cute things I found this weekend...

sweet pink lil jumper

polka dots-always classy

Cute little Ralph Lauren Plaid dress- very preppy

I loved this because it reminded me of Mamaw- Can't you just see
Rosetta wearing a big versions of this? ha

Yellow jumper

Blue jean dress w/ matching bloomers

I had fun with my first consignment sale experience. There were tons of things there from strollers to bouncy seats to bedding to maternity (I snagged a few maternity things too)

This weekend has been pretty productive. I cleared out all of our books and such from the baby's room. It's pretty funny because we have 2 and 3 copies of some of the same books. We have 2 copies of the DaVinci Code and I've never read it. But now all of our books have a home in our living room book case. I also cleaned out my closet today hoping to make room for some of my misc junk that is in the baby's room. I have a plastic tote full of nice dress pants that I had slightly outgrown before I got pregnant that I hope to fit back into later on but I wanted them out of my way for now. Then I have a jumbo bag full of clothes that I haven't worn in a few years. They are some pretty nice clothes. I'm not sure what to do with them. I can't decide if I should give them to GoodWill or wait to see if a good charity comes along. idk. We still have to clean out Jacob's closet too. It feels good to straighten everything up.

24 weeks

Here's my belly pic from the other day- me at 24 weeks.
My doctor's appointment went fine. My BP was normal. My weight was...well a lot higher than I expected. So I'm depressed. I've never been this big before but hey I guess if there was ever an excuse to be at my biggest, having a person in my belly is a pretty good excuse. Hopefully I'll be able to get more exercise now that it's cooling down some.

Our crib was delivered Friday and Jacob got it put up pretty quick that night. I'm excited to have our crib up but now its putting the pressure on to get the baby's room cleaned out. That room has been basically our catch all room so there is plenty of stuff in there that we have to find a place for.
welp I'm tired. holler

Le Tired

That's French for I'm tired. ha
Last week was kinda rough because I woke up everyday feeling like I hadn't sleep much at all. I can't remember being so tired. Friday night Jacob and I ordered some Outback to-go and planned on watching a movie at home but I was in bed by like 9:30pm. Saturay was a waste beacuse I slept in til like 10:30am (keep in mind I didn't get to sleep straight through the night- I had to pee like 5 times, let the dogs out, let the dogs in, yell at the dogs for being too loud while mommy is sleeping. lol) but all in all I should have been rested when I got up. I wasn't. Exhausted. I finally got a shower and decided a trip to Hobby Lobby would perk me up. Nope, it just wore me out and I didn't buy anything. Then I got a strawberry milkshake on the way home. It was great. Then I laid around and napped for about an hour until Jacob got home and coaxed me out of bed with the promise of food. We went to Spaghetti Store with Caroline, BethAnn, and Emily T and that was fun times. The only downside is that it was hot as crap in there and I sat there with sweat running down my face. Then me and Jacob went to Dairy Queen:) Then I laid on the couch for a while watching tv then went to bed. I got up today at about 10am and and hour later, I'm ready for a nap. I've been stalking people's baby registries online and messing with my blog in an attempt to stay awake.

I really do have alot to do around the house. Last weekend I started cleaning out the soon to be baby's room and there is still tons left to do in there- it's kind of a junk room where everything goes that we don't have a place for. I also need to vaccuum, clean the kitchen, and fold the laundry that Jacob washed and dried like 5 days ago and is sitting on top of the dryer all wrinkled. I need to walk the dogs. I dunno maybe a little nap would be good. I feel so lazy. I thought the 2nd trimester was the fun time when you have all kinds of energy? guess not.

In other news, Jacob and I are planning a lil trip to Chicago for our anniversary:) I'm pretty excited. We are going the weekend before our actually anniversary (Monday Oct.25) we are off Thursday and Friday so we will have a nice long weekend. Jacob's cousin and her husband live there and we are going to see them while we are there. Anyone have any good ideas for hotels, food, and fun? I've only been to Chicago once and it was on business, when I worked for Beneficial/HSBC. I was there a week but we actually worked and stayed in the suburbs and only drove into downtown Chicago once to eat and walk around Navy Pier. So I don't really count that as a trip to Chicago- I mean I didn't even have Chicago style pizza or a hot dog even once!

We went to Target Friday night to look at baby stuff while waiting on our Outback order and I think we have found a travel system we like (no over 30lb car seat yet, but we have time) it's the Eddie Bauer Trailmaker travel system in Sinclair. Honestly, what first drew us to it is that it is pretty and we think it is gender neutral. It feels really sturdy. All the online customer reviews are great but I haven't found any safety ratings yet. I am so ready to start registering for everything. I keep seeing things and thinking I'm sure we'll need that. I haven't been writting them down just keeping them in my head so we shall see how much I remember. ha
We just have to find a good time that me and Jacob are both off work so we can go together. I know you can do it online but I would rather go to the store first so we can touch everything then add online stuff later if need be.
I already have a baby shower planned :) yay! Haley, Lauren, Kelly and Lindsay are throwing me a shower towards the end of Novemeber. I can't imagine how big I will be then. Jacob swears I'm bigger everyday. But I don't feel much bigger than I was last week. Though when I wear one of my old tshirts around the house it's pretty funny because it's too short and part of my belly shows.
In Waldo news, he has been acting super strange lately. He usually (by usually, I mean always) lays on the back of the couch or in his bed, but there have been a couple times I couldn't find him and he was hiding under the coffee table (which he only does when he's scared) or he was asleep on our guest bed (he hardly ever goes in there). The other night before bed he went outside and peed and pooped then the next morning when I got up he had pooped by my side of the bed ( I can't remember the last night he pooped in the house) and Friday night he peed in the living room right in front of Jacob. He doesn't react to change well and I'm sure he can sense that change is a comin'. Poor Waldo. Hopefully he will get his act together soon.

Decisions, Decisions

We made the decision on the crib (see above). It is an antique white finish. I don't like the dresser and changer that is part of the set so I we need to find an antique white dresser and changer somewhere else... hmm...
Also I made the decision on the bedding, we are getting it made by a lady on etsy. She sent me a pic of a quilt she is working on now (trim isn't on it yet)

This is the front:

This is the back of the quilt:

Now I'm trying to decide on a car seat, stroller, or travel system. But there are several problems... I'm leaning towards the travel system because it looks so convenient and the infant carrier fits into the car seat dock in the car and then fits into the stroller BUT I want a gender neutral set and can't find one. Also, I the car seat in that set only goes up to 20 lbs then we would need the bigger car seat. Or I could get the convertible car seat that holds a newborn then converts to a forward facing seat up to 80lbs. But would I need to get an infant carrier too? I don't know what's the best way to go? blah

Maybe I should switch to something easier like a high chair or pack n play but that's no good because I may want to have everything match. lol

Ok bottom line, tell me about your car seat, stroller, travel system situation.

I'm so indecisive

So I thought I had decided on the pottery barn baby bedding but now I'm back to wanting to get custom bedding made because I can get exactly what I want and it really isn't that much more expensive than pottery barn. Granted its alot more than say JCPenny or Target bedding but whatev. I found a seller on etsy that I really like because she has all positive feedback and she has done a lot of sells. Check out her blog http://fingersandtoes08.blogspot.com/
There's lots of cute stuff, it's nuts.
I really wish I could sew; that would be so cool.

In other news, Waldo has been extra bad lately. I won't go into everything he's been into because it upsets me. He's been my little baby for 4 years and I'm not sure how we are going to be able to keep him much longer since we have a baby coming. It makes me cry whenever I think about it. oh well , we shall see what happens.

Jacob's granny is having brain surgery tomorrow so make sure to keep her in your prayers if you're a praying person.

That's all for now.
I need to pimp my blog out soon- it's looking kinda blah.

And the winner is...

After a week of searching online for the best bedding that was girly but not too girly, pink but not pastel, bright but not tacky, I've found it at pottery barn kids:)

more on bedding...

So I think my favorite bedding so far is the one with the love birds on it. I think love birds could be a fun theme.
However, I think I found a bird bedding set I like better. maybe.
check it out

Stupid technology

So I figured out how to make a super cool new blog header with a picture. Then I tried to add a new blog background but I can't get my blog to open unless I delete the background. It just says operation aborted when I have the background on there. ugh What's up with that? Why can't I be more tech savy?

Baby Bedding

So now all I can think of is Baby H's nursery. I looked at a lot of bedding online tonight just incase I don't want to go through the hassle of etsy. I was suprised to find that JC Penny's has tons of cute bedding and furniture. The only down side is that it's all online so I wouldn't be able to see the stuff in person but I'm sure I could always send it back. Anywho. Check out some of my favorite bedding sets and lemme know what ya think.

20 weeks- 1/2 way there

Well we hit the 20 week mark Thursday. 20 weeks was a big deal because we are 1/2 way there and we had our "big" ultrasound.

The ultrasound was very cool. SHE was moving around alot. When I first laid down she was all bundled up then she stretched out. It was neat because you could see her spine stretching. At one point she put her hand on her forehead like she was exhausted. Just like a lil diva:) We immediately knew she was a girl before the ultrasound tech told us because she was laying with her legs WIDE open. We will have to teach her some manners... haha

They checked all of her organs and they look great, measured all her bones and she's in the 50th percentile for length (which I'm told is good), and she weighs 14 oz (which is 50th percentile too). I was just waiting for the moment where they would say everything is great except we need to watch this or that, but it never came, she is developing normally. We saw all 4 chambers of her heart beating and pumping blood. They measured her brain and said she is of above average intelligence....ok maybe not but I think it was a pretty good looking brain if I do say so myself;)

Everything looked fine with me. I was up 2 lbs from last month, my urine looked fine (not sure exactly what all they look for), my blood pressure was 125/89 so its still in normal range, and I'm not feeling sick anymore. So basically all is well. At week 28 I take my glucose test and I'm not looking forward to that, I've heard you drink some yucky stuff.

Here's some pictures of baby

We have been looking at baby bedding and cribs this weekend. I think I want to do antique white furniture. I found a nursery I like .... The bedding is made from Amy Butler Fabrics. (I think it's Amy Butler Belle, Full Bloom palette)
We have thought about either trying to get all the bedding custom made on etsy.com or finding some simple bedding and maybe finding someone to make some accent stuff from this fabric. maybe. I dunno. I just love the colors and fabrics here and I haven't found anything I like as much in any stores. Anyone want to recommend any etsy sellers?
Well I guess this is all of the 20 week update:)

I'm tired and achy

ok so my title pretty much sums up how I'm feeling- tired and achy.

My feet are killing me and I sit for about 90% of my day. What's up with that? My shoulders and neck hurts. My head hurts. I'm tired.
I've been up since 5:30am. Work is wearing me out. I'm stressed. My house is dirty. Just finished making dinner and its in the oven. I'm hungry.
All I can think about is how the heck am I supposed to be a mom if I'm this wore out without a kid. How to be a mom, wife, working professional, cook, maid, etc....and get sleep and be in a good mood? I dunno. This morning all I could think was when the baby is here I will probably have to get up atleast an hour earlier for work and I'll be running on less sleep. And I'm feeling pressured about breastfeeding. I'm definitely going to do it. But I think it's going to be hard juggling work and pumping at every break and lunch. And don't forget that I drive an hour to work so I guess I'll need a cooler to bring my pumped breast milk home in. I keep hearing you should breast feed as long as possible because it's so good for your baby and basically you're the devil himself if you don't keep it up for a year. I feel like that mind set is setting me up to feel like a failure if on only do it for a few months or so. I dunno...the plan is to do it. Heck the plan is to be a great mom but we'll see.
I get stressed out about things I know nothing about and I stress about change in general- maybe that's why I didn't vote for Obama (I'm against change. ha). But really I'm tired and my brain is wacky.
Sorry about the rambling. I'm just in a weird mood. I need food and sleep.

Was that the oven timer I hear?
Well hello chicken potpie....

18 week update..a lil late

Ok well this update is very late being that I'm closer to 19 weeks than 18....but whatev.
Let's see what are the highlights of my week...
Jacob got me a surprise Friday- a pregnancy pillow and its great. There's all sorts of positions to put the pillow in-see above.
I think i had my first food craving today. I wanted some Fruit Loops so bad today when I got off work, I barely made it home. haha So I ate the Fruit Loops then about an hour and half later I really wanted some chili so I head to Wendy's for chili...on my way there, I decide a chili dog from Sonic is a better choice:) yum. I only ate 1/4 of the hot dog, I'm a fan of the chili bun:) Waldo and Gus were happy to get some hot dog though.
I have been having weird feelings in my tummy kinda like bubbles. Supposedly its Baby H swimming around in there.
Another weird thing, I lightly flossed my teeth last night and had a mouth full of blood. yucky. Guess I have some sensitive gums.
We have about a week and a half until we find out the baby's sex! woo hoo stay tuned!

17 weeks

Welp only 3 weeks until we find out the baby's sex! woot!
I've been feeling pretty good this week. I haven't even taken my Zofran. I'm glad to be feeling better and to have energy. woot
On another note, a friend of mine at work is 5 months pregnant and she has been put on bed rest until she has the baby. Her cervix has gotten too short and they are having to stitch her cervix to prevent preterm labor. Scary stuff. But it sounds like things should turn out well, it will just be uncomfortable for the next few months. If you're a praying person, please say a lil prayer for her, hubby, and baby.
ok that's all for me

16 Weeks

So I had my 16 week check up Friday. Everything is good. Baby's heartbeat was 153. My BP was 122/78. My urine looked good I suppose, they didn't say anything bad about it. My weight was...well higher than last time. ha
So all in all everything looks good. Our next check up is the fetal assessment aka find out the sex of baby ultrasound. I'm really excited about that but I know once I know the sex I'll be in full baby planning mode. It's really hard to pick stuff out for the nursery and such until you know the sex. And we'll start making our baby name list. So basically after August 27 we will be in full Baby Hamilton Preparation mode, or as Jacob calls it Preparation H mode.
I'm kinda enjoying taking it easy and not planning but baby will be here before we know it.
We also have a big home improvement project we are wanting to start as soon as it cools down a lil bit; we are going to rip up all the carpet in our house and put down laminate hardwood in the living room and entry way and carpet back down in the bedrooms. We picked out the laminate already and I love it. It's glossy and the look and feel is just like hardwood but it won't scratch as easily oh and its a lot cheaper. Jacob is planning on putting in the hardwood himself with the help of some male relatives. Everybody seems to think he will have no trouble doing it himself, so we shall see. We will save about $800 if he can put it down himself so that's a good incentive. The carpet we are having trouble with. I guess I just don't really like carpet or there are too many choices or I dunno but I can't find anything I remotely like unless it's just as expensive as hardwood. I dunno. Anybody want to pick out our carpet for me? anybody? Oh well stay tuned on that project. Maybe we'll do it the end of August or September.
Today I'm going to Motherhood Maternity in Memphis with Haley so hopefully I'll find some good stuff.
On the nausea front: I haven't had to take my Zofran everyday so I'm pretty happy about that. In the past week I've only taken it like 3 times:) I did get pretty sick last night though but I sometimes get sick at night even on the days I've taken the Zofran because it tends to wear off by the time I get home from work.
Ok well that's all for now.

15 weeks!

The bump with a shirt....

Now one of the naked belly because Jacob thinks it's more noticeable this way...

Welp things are going well my way. I'm starting to stretch out and show a lil bit.
Tuesday I had a lil bit of spotting and cramping and the doctor told me to call back Wednesday if I had intense cramping. Well of course I had some bad cramping so I went to the doctor Wednesday afternoon. Everything is fine. They found the heartbeat and checked me for infections and such. Everything checked out. So we're thinking that I'm having round ligament pain (stretching and growing) and the spotting was random. The fun part of my doctor visit was when they got the doppler out to get the heartbeat- The nurse had to chase the baby around my belly. Apparently the baby isn't laid back like me and Jacob, he is an active lil thing. ha
I go back to the doctor for my regular appointment next Friday and then we have the "big" ultrasound at the next visit (Aug. 27th) woot woot!
The nausea is getting a lot better too. I got LOTS of sleep last night so I've been feeling pretty good today, lot of energy. It's weird, I'm starting to feel normal again. I had almost forgot what it felt like to not be nauseous and tired. ha
Welp it's 8:15pm I'd better start getting ready for bed. lol. no seriously, good night;)

Shopping for maternity clothes=no fun

I went shopping yesterday determined to buy new clothes. My regular clothes were getting a lil tight before I got pregnant so I think that's why I have outgrown my clothes so fast.
I went to target and found nothing. Old Navy has no maternity in the store. Khols- nadda. I finally found one pair of jean capri's at Ross. I think my problem is that I can't get over how UGLY all the maternity clothes are. I really need to make it to Memphis to check out motherhood maternity. Really I just need 2 pair of dress pants and a few shirts right now. I know I should buy just enough to get me though for now and then shop again later. And I desperately need a new bra, but where in the heck do you buy such a big bra?! I guess motherhood maternity? suggestions? Anyone have any maternity clothes shopping tips? Do I need to buy the full panel pants early on? I've got the bellaband and worn it once- it was ok. Not in love with it but maybe I'll try it again.

Hello 2nd Trimester

Welp the first and (hardest?) trimester is under my belt....who am I kidding, I can't where a belt anymore;) I am totally starting to get a belly bump. I need to take a picture of my belly each week. But I have been putting it off because I didn't want a pic of my fat belly before I had a reason to be fat. ha I'm gonna have to go shopping this weekend sometime to get some new pants.
In other news, the nausea is getting better. kinda.

ummm...I can't think of anything else to say. Jacob says I should say how cool my belly feels. It feels kinda tight. Jacob said it feels like a balloon- kinda hollow but with pressure. idk its weird.

ok next update will be interesting. maybe...

12 Weeks

There's no 12 weeks update with a picture from the 3dpregnancy website because this week likens my baby to the size of a vienna sausage and it made me gag a lil bit. ha
We had our 12 week check up today. It was pretty boring just weigh in, blood pressure, and the whole "how are you? Any questions?" yada yada. But one cool thing happened we got to hear the heart beat again on the dopplar. It was 168.
The next appointment is the 30th and then the appointment after that (8/27) we find out the sex. woo

I'm outta the closest

So I've come out on Facebook, work, and well the world. It's kinda cool having everyone know but I kinda miss the secret of it all. kinda.
Also, I know this sounds terrible but it kinda bothers me that certain people haven't said congrats or anything to me yet. I just want to tell some people I know you have been on FB why are you ignoring my news? But then again I go through bouts of craziness sometimes. MondayI cried some of the way home, and I can't remember why and today I started crying during Reba. haha nuts

ok enough of this... I gotta get back to Reba.

It's all fun and games until the pregnant lady eats your dinner

So I made Bertolli pasta for dinner. Supposedly its enough for 2 people....I ate my half and had Jacob's set aside so he would have dinner when he got off work. Well we know where this is going, I ate Jacob's half too and now he has no dinner when he gets home. oops
In other news, I came out on Facebook so I guess everybody know about the baby. It feels weird being out of the closet. ha
ok that's all good day

Sunday, June 20, 2010

I thought the nausea was getting better...

We had a great time in Orlando,Fl last week and I felt ok most of the
time but the 12 hr ride home bout killed me. I threw up 3 times last
night and I only got outta bed once today to take my daddy to lunch.
Waldo has been cuddling me all day. I'm a firm believer that puppy
love can cure all:)

10 weeks

"Your Baby
By the end of Week 10, your baby graduates from embryo to fetus, which literally means "little one." It also translates to "I'm just going to keep getting bigger and bigger and so are you!" Other highlights this week:Your baby has finally morphed from a little tadpole into, well, a baby. Not only is the face more human-like, but that unflattering "tail" (really just the developing spinal cord) has disappeared, fusing into the spinal column.Your baby now has discernible fingers and toes, which will explain the steady stream of kicks and punches you'll feel down the line.Junior's skeleton is starting to grow and harden. The ears are beginning to take shape and the eyelids are no longer transparent. Tooth buds are forming, although your baby won't get any teeth until six or seven (or eight or nine or 10) months after birth. Baby's brain will make an incredible 25,000 new neurons every minute this week. While you may feel like you're losing as many as he's gaining, we can assure you it's not permanent. "Pregnancy brain," like nausea and bloating, is a temporary symptom that soon shall pass. (And then you'll get "Mommy brain," but we won't go there now.)If you're baby is a boy, he's started producing that macho hormone testosterone. And whether your baby is a boy or a girl, the kidneys are creating copious amounts of urine. Lucky for you, you won't have to change a diaper for another 30 weeks.Baby weighs only 4 grams and measures 1½ inches, about the size of a mondo Brazil nut."

Due Date 01/13/2011

We had our first OB appointment today and I have been a ball of nerves the passed few days. Monday night I didn't sleep well at all. Last night I figured I wouldn't be able to sleep either since it was the night before the big day....but I zonked out a lil before 9 and slept all through the night. woot!

The doctor's visit was an adventure, in a good way. I really like the Women's Clinic. They got me back right away for a urine sample and weight check. Then we went right in to have the ultra sound. I was a lil nervous about the ultrasound because it was an internal one since it is too early for a normal on top of the belly ultrasound, but it was fine. It was very cool. There's only one baby in there and he looked like kind of like a peanut. I have a cyst on each of my ovaries but they say that's normal, it's just where I released my egg (maybe eggS.. yikes) and it should go away soon. So no worries. Jacob saw the heart beat, I couldn't really see it. But we got to hear the heart beat loud and clear at 170 bpm. Which I'm told is great. The nurse guessed that it's a girl because of the fast heart beat, we'll see. The baby measured in at 2.0 cm and they said all of my measurements match what they should at this date. I'm 8 weeks, 5 days exactly the amount of time since my last period. Here's some of the pictures..

I probably should have scanned the pictures onto the computer but instead I told a pic with my phone. My next (and possible last) ultrasound is Aug. 27th this is where they check the organs and look for any problems and find out the sex. fun fun. They said they usually only do the 2 ultrasounds unless you have some problems and they need extra ones.

After the ultrasound we met with on of the OB nurses. I bet she talked to us for over an hour. She checked my BP (117/70) and talked about how things have been going so far, what to expect in the future, what I can and can't do (apparently bull riding is out- she actually had a patient ask her that), what I can and can't eat, what drugs are ok, took a complete family medical history, and answered all our questions. I really liked having someone sit us down and talking about all of it. She said I don't have any risk factors and everything looks great so far. Then we went to the exam room to meet with the Doctor. We waited 30mins and talked to him for 5 mins. At this point I'm starving, feeling weak and nauseous so I'm wanting him to hurry up. He tells us that all is well and sends me to get blood drawn. I get 3 HUGE (probably normal size but in my "I hate blood" mind they are huge) vials and 2 smaller vials of blood drawn. Yuck. at this point I feel yucky. All I can think of is I want food! haha. We go to the front desk to schedule our next few appointment and then I start feeling sick, I can't hear anything and my vision gets kinda grayish black. Yep I came *this* close to making it in and out without embarrassing myself and then at the very end I about pass out and freak out all the nurses. fun times.

All in all a great day. We went to Sam's afterwards and got hot dogs for lunch and then Jacob had to go to work. I was off the whole day since I wasn't sure how long the appointment would take. I'm glad I was off because it did take quite a while and I was exhausted (mostly mentally)afterwards I've been lounging around and resting. good times. Also apparently when you have a baby you get lots of free stuff...

I got a welcome packet from the clinic with books, magazines, sample formula, coupons, a cd that helps you design your birth announcements, a diaper, and lots of random info. Similac sponsored this pregnancy journal and during one of my 2nd tri visits I'll get an overnight/toiletry type bag from Similac filled with coupons and such, and then apparently at the hospital they give me a shoulder bag with free formula and bottles. Free bag with baby. The nurse said they suggest breastfeeding but they go ahead and give out the similac gifts. I hope I won't need the formula but who knows.

I feel like the cat is being slowly let out of the bag way too soon! ahh but they don't call me MOTS (Mouth Of The South) because I'm a good secret keeper. I told Haley, Tucker (last Thursday), Lauren (Saturday) and I just told Matt minutes ago. AND Jacob just texted me and said he told everyone at work! And I gave my mom freedom to tell Terry's (her new hubby) family as long as it doesn't make it to FB. That alot of telling in the past few days. Dad asked if he could announce it on his FB status today! haha I think he was joking. Anyways. My plan is to tell my managers at work before I leave for vacay because I really don't want it to leak to FB and then all my co-worker FB friends find out before my managers but I feel like that would be rude. So I'm guessing the cat will completely be outta the bag at 10 weeks, just a lil earlier than planned. I was really nervous about people finding out before this first appointment, because for all I know we could have gotten there today and find out I wasn't knocked up. But I feel better about it today knowing it's real and healthy.

That's all for now!
