Project Nursey

Jacob and I are in nursery planning mode. We are still in the looking phase and haven't committed to even a wall color yet but that is cool. We found some cool ideas at Lowes yesterday for a pink and orange nursery. hmm... We thought about beadboard or a chair rail but not sure how it will look with our bay window.

I found a cool DYI blog, here's a post of her's about her nursery.
This definitely puts me in the craft mood. There's links towards the bottom of her post to her posts on the specific DIY projects. I kinda think I could make Baby H's curtains after reading this. So easy and no sewing! I am also digging the shelves and mobile over the changing table. And I want to make a scrapbook like she made; I like the idea of making up your own fun pages like she did pages where the mom to be and dad to be guess everything about the baby from her eye color to her favorite food to her profession, that would be cool to look back on. Also in the same post she says she got an idea to bring a pretty pillow with her to the hospital since there will be so many pictures taken of her in the hospital bed... maybe if I get a cute pillow it'll take the focus off how bad I will look? Oh who am I kidding, our baby will be so pretty that noone will even notice that me and Jacob exist for the next few years. haha.

Basically, if I hadn't already picked out our bedding, I would completely copy this room. lol Well maybe not, I do love our bedding but I may still take bits and pieces our her nursery and adapt it to ours:) Too bad Hobby Lobby is closed on Sundays. boo.

Yesterday Jacob and I went dresser and glider shopping. But it was kind of a waste of time. Apparently you can't find a simple dresser at Coffman's Furniture for under $1100! nuts. So Jacob looked online last night and we found a couple we liked (this one and this one) at for like 1/3 the price at JCPenny but it's hard to tell if it will match our antique white crib. But maybe after reading this blog, we should look into refinishing an old dresser- like this and this

Wow I just realized that it's 2:00pm and all I've done is sit outside eating "brunch" (aka leftover pizza) and look online at nursery ideas. Maybe I should shower....

  1. I love that blog... I forget to look at it for a while then spend hours looking at all of their ideas! If you ordered the custom bedding that you mentioned, I really think that your nursery will have a similar feel to it!!

We bought a new crib and a new rug (rather, my parents did) but we got our changer from my aunt, a side table from my parents house, and a glider off of craiglist. I totally think you could refinish a dresser off of craigslist and make it look fantastic-- plus, once you have the crib, you can pick out an antique white paint to match! (My crib turned out to be a very creamy (almost yellowish) white, while my bedboard on the walls and my changer are a true white. If I had set up my crib first, I would have made sure that they all matched, as the crib is the only thing that didn't need painting.

I can't wait to see your progress and how everything comes together. Enjoy your weekend, and spend the rest of the day dreaming about the nursery that you'll bring your beautiful little girl home to!!
