7 weeks

"This week your baby's brain is growing at a mind-boggling 100 cells per minute within a see-through skull. If you could peer inside, you'd see those tiny brain cells growing and growing and growing (about as quickly as you feel like yours are shrinking and shrinking and shrinking with your "pregnancy brain"!). More high points include: Your baby's face is becoming more defined this week. A tiny mouth hole (which will be ready to wail before you know it!), tongue, nostrils and ear indentations are visible. His or her eyes are wide open, but he doesn't have irises (the colored part) yet. Baby's arm buds are growing. At this point they look more like microscopic ping-pong paddles than arms. Baby's leg buds are also forming and will look like tiny paddles by the end of the week. The umbilical cord—the connection between your baby and the placenta—is now visible.Your baby is now between 1/3 and 1/4 inch long—about the length of a Tic Tac and about as heavy as an eyelash. While that sounds tiny, he or she is approximately 10,000 times bigger than at conception. Crazy, huh"

Welp the morning sickness hasn't gone away yet. I think I about fainted at work today, I was just standing there chit chatting and I got really sweaty and clammy and dizzy. It was weird. Then I dry heaved for like the next hour. I was really hoping the Zofran would be like a magic pill but its not. It lessens it to just a dull ache which is bearable. But I think my problem is I haven't figured out eating yet. I'm supposed to snack every hour to make myself feel better but the thought of food and drink is usually g-ross. But sometimes I get really hunger and then eat a normal size meal and its too much food and I get sick. So yeah I got that going for me.
Thankfully Jacob has been doing all the housework and cooking when he gets home early, so basically all I have to do is get up, go to work, come home and lounge around oh and whine;)

Tomorrow I'm going to Memphis to hang out with Kelly, we are going to do lunch and see Sex and the City 2! woo! I love SATC but I'm not sure if I'm going to love this movie as much as the series and the first movie. We shall see. I'm also not sure if I'm going to spill the beans to Kell about being preggo. It's so hard to keep a secret. I talked to Lauren tonight and she is coming in from Nashville next weekend to see me and Haley. So maybe I should try to get Kell to come in next weekend and I can tell them all at once. hmm... I know I wanted to wait to tell people til 12 weeks or at least wait til after my doctor visit to tell friends, but I may not see them all together for a while and I can't just let them find out on FB. I guess if Kell tells me she will come to Jackson next weekend, I'll wait. If not I'll prolly tell her tomorrow.
I have been itching to tell people. I had my appraisal at work for my grade increase (GS-11 woot!) and at the end my supervisor asked if there was anything I wanted to add and seriously I was screaming in my head (Yes. I'm pregnant!) haha but I didn't. I'm excited about the pay raise, definitely came at a great time. We have just the thing to spend all of our extra money on:)
ok well that's all for now.

Morning sickness=boo hiss

Yesterday was really bad and I called my doctors nurse and she gave me some tips to fighting morning sickness...
So with the help of eating small snacks more often, b-natal candy, zofran, and sea bands I am feeling human today. yay
Well I was feeling better while at work but I guess my Zofran wore off so I'm back to Nauseous Nelly. That's fine though, I don't mind being sick at home as much. I just hate being sick and trying to work.
But all in all I'm good. I've cried like 4 times in the past 2 days for no reason. haha nuts. As much as the nausea and hormones suck it means that I'm pregnant and hopefully it means that things are progressing as it should. yay
We have our first OB appt 2 weeks from today. I'm pumped.
ok goodnight. It's almost 9pm, so it's past my bedtime;)

6 weeks

This week starts a period of rapid cellular development for your baby-to-be, who looks like a mini tadpole, with a tiny head and tail. His or her eyes, ears and mouth have begun to form (though they're a little more Discovery Channel "creatures of the sea" documentary than Gerber Baby at this point).Other exciting milestones include:Your baby's heart is now beating to a regular beat, although it's still too faint to hear. His or her arm buds are just beginning to, well, bud. They look like teensy swollen bumps at this point. In a few days, they'll resemble itsy-bitsy flippers.Your baby has grown to ⅛ inch long—about the size of one of the chocolate sprinkles on your last cupcake (and your last ice cream cone, and your last sundae and your last giant cookie ... maybe there is something to those rumors about pregnancy cravings!).

The only thing about the 6 week mark that I have noticed is that I've been sick:( yuck

It started wednesday night and hasn't gone away. It's horrible, ok maybe I'm being dramatic but it def sucks. It's just an all over nausea. I'm trying to read up on different remedies to help so far the best one is stick it out til the 2nd trimester...

For now my new favorite snack is ginerale and crackers. But apparently there is no real ginger in my ginger ale. strange.
I'm supposed to work overtime today til 12 but I think I will stay home and just be sick here rather than work. I'm so glad its the weekend. I really need to clean the house, it hasn't been cleaned since Mother's Day so you can imagine what it looks like. ha
In other news, I haven't had anymore heartburn:) woohoo

ugh

I felt awful last night and feel pretty much the same this morning.
nausea is not fun.
I want to call in sick but I probably shouldn't, I mean I can't stay home sick for 9 months right?

ok off to work I go....but I'm not happy about it:(

Well hello heartburn and your nasty friend acid reflux

Meet my new best friend=Tums.
I've never had heartburn before but after dinner last night it hit me HARD. And I swear it still bothered me some early this morning, if that's even possible. I just had a lil snack of chips and salsa waiting on dinner to finish, and guess what? heartburn again. I shouldn't complain too much since I haven't had any morning sickness yet. Unfortunately, I've read that morning sickness doesn't usually start til about week 6 or 7. So I've got that to look forward to...

In other news, I found a cool website with week by week updates (thanks Stef)...

"Your BabyYour baby's microscopic heart begins to beat this week—although it won't be detectable with one of those cool Dopplers for a few weeks, so you'll have to wait a little longer to hear that satisfying "whoosh-whoosh" you're so anxious for. Here's what else is under construction: With the beating of the heart, blood will begin to circulate throughout the body. Your baby's first organ system will be up and running! The beginnings of the brain; the cardiovascular, nervous and reproductive systems; as well as all other major systems are under way. Your baby's new digs—the amniotic sac and the placenta (aka the hotel and the restaurant)—are still forming at this point. (Maybe you should send a housewarming gift.)All that high-speed development and your baby is only 2 millimeters long—about the size of a sesame seed (check one out next time you're chowing down on a bagel—you won't believe how tiny it is!). "

I've read some places that the baby is the size of an orange seed, nail head, apple seed, now a seasame seed... I guess the point is= baby is SMALL!

22 days til our first OB appointment! woot! and 25 days till our vacation in FL! woo

Kids are annoying

I just left my favorite store, Target, with the hubs... There were
like a billion screamy, whinney, annoying kids running around the
store trying to ruin my time at target.
I told Jacob I'm not sure this whole baby thing is a good idea...jk Haha
But our kids won't be annoying though right? It's just other peoples
kids...lol

friends only

Jacob posted his blog on Facebook so I had to lock mine. Since he I'm one of his "followers" I didn't want random people seeing my blog and knowing I'm knocked up. Its not that I'm against telling people or I'm embarrassed. But I don't want everybody in their coon dog knowing and then if I miscarry (which from what I've read is common enough before the 12 week mark) I will have to tell a billion people "jk I'm not having a baby after all". Facebook is the worst because I'm "friends" with people I haven't seen in years and friends with people I went to school with but not necessarily friends so it no sense letting all these people in our business.
SO....I'm going to have to do the blog by invite only for now.

ok.

Shout out to the husband

Jacob started his own blog about his new obsession- gardening. haha
check it out http://homeandincompetentgardening.blogspot.com/

In other note, me and Jacob went to look at baby stuff last night at Target:) hehe

We went last week to get onesies for our mom's mother's day presents and he about passed out when he saw the big row of carseats. This time he was way into it. I think his new favorite item is the pack n play. Well its probably mine too I mean its like 5 things in one- changing table, bassinet, diaper stacker, play yard, and they had mobiles, lights and sounds. One of them had this zip around doggie door looking thing at the bottom. Not sure what its actually supposed to be for because I thought the point was to keep the kid contained, but we are pretty sure Waldo would love to have a doggie door to the baby's play pin. haha

ok I'm off to get my oil changed and eat breakfast with Dad. Then later this afternoon- ERob's wedding shower! woot

Testing the mobile blog feature..

How is it possible for me to be pissy even before 6am? Nuts
I went to Kroger for gas on my way to work.  The machine took my card but no gas. Ok. I go see the gas attendant and she says well it's only 5:55am and the gas pumps don't turn on til 6am. Hello then why did it take my card?
So I go get a sprite from the vending machine. I try to grab a dollar and my whole wallet falls scatering my money, receipts, business cards, credit/insurance cards all over the parking lot. Ugh. So I get pissed and decide I'm not waiting the 5 mins to get gas here because I don't want to do business at this crappy place. (temper temper)
So I drive down the street to another Kroger. Ha
I cooled off pretty quickly. Way to get all mad for no reason.
Good day all
Happy Friday

Just in case there were any doubts....

I had one more test left in the cabinet so I had to take it. It turned positive before I finished peeing on it. ha
I also needed a lil more confirmation since I can't go to my first OB appointment until 06/08/10. It seems like forever away. I have so many questions, at least I have plenty of time to make my list of questions....

I have been trying to eat healthy (-ish) nowadays but its so hard to work all day, drive and hour home, go to the store, and come home and cook. geez I'm tired just typing that. But the plan is to prepare better for the upcoming week so I don't have to go to the store every night. Anybody have any easy, quick, nutritious meals you want to share with me?

Almost too tired to update..

I'm in the 5th week and I haven't had really any symptoms just a tad of nausea, tiredness, and grouchiness... haha. But seriously, I'm so happy that I haven't had any morning sickness except for the little bit I had this morning. Fingers crossed it stay this way:)

Jacob bought me this beautiful hydrangea plant for mother's day:) He had to fight an Asian lady for it at the store but I think it's worth it. I can't wait to plant it in the flower beds then well remember this time in our lives every time it blooms.

Also, on the flower front- Dad and Donna sent me flowers to work Tuesday:) So sweet. I'm digging this pregnancy thing- lots of attention and lots of pretty flowers. haha

The positive tests

You may have to click on the picture to enlarge it so you can see it well. I took this on my phone and its kinda hard to see.

Well Well

Looks like there's a baby in me and Jacob's future:)
I'm going to try to keep this blog up to date so anyone who wants to keep up with the ongoings of baby Hamilton can do so. I started this blog a while ago but never really had anything good to write about.

The run down:
5/5/10 there was a very faint positive test.
5/6/10 there was a positive test
5/7/10 there were 2 very positive tests.

We have estimated that the baby is about 4 weeks along and will be born around 01/16/11. But we won't know for sure until we go to our first OB appointment on 6/8/10 at 9:00am. The doctor apparently won't see you before 8wks unless they suspect problems or something.

I haven't had many symptoms yet just tired and I've had a cold and cough..

We told our parents yesterday for Mother's day. It was pretty hilarious. We gave them a book on being a grandmother and a onesie as a mother's day present. We gave Dad and Donna a grandparenting book. I will post pictures from yesterday later.
The only draw back about us telling everyone yesterday is that they are going crazy because they can't tell anyone for like 2 months. haha craziness.
